Levon Helm: His sincerity was as natural as his music......
"I had the fun, the honor, and the pleasure of knowing one of the finest men who ever shared his life story and talent—and I’m saddened to know that he’s about to leave us. Levon Helm was smaller in size than I imagined when I met him in person, but when I left the shows after hauling gear in gratitude for his time and friendship, he was bigger than life.
Those first snare drum licks from the start of “Don’t Do it” from the legendary Rock of Ages was the magnet that caught me. That was pure Levon: the simple wrist action that would make a pistol-popping crack!--that and the thick, muffled thud of the tom-toms as he effortlessly rolled around his kit. His voice too: it sounded to me like something that stepped out of an old western movie, sun-baked and rich with a panoramic wonder that comes from being in the wide-open spaces of the American frontier.
I met Lee at several gigs with his band, the Barnburners, in 2002-2003, playing in upstate NY near his home, in Ocean City, NJ, below Atlantic City, and then at the Rams Head in Annapolis, MD. He had given me an interview several months before that came courtesy of Bobby Whitlock providing me with his phone number. I ended up sending Levon two books on old-style farm dessert cooking that his wife, Sandy, was delighted to use—and my mother later gave me two boxes of a Romanian pastry called ruggulah that Lee and his then-manager devoured at once.
Speaking of sweets, he once warned me “Be careful of those brownies.” I assured him I could handle it—and after I picked myself up off the floor, I was stunned to see him onstage playing with gusto and enthusiasm. But that’s what he loved to do—and nothing could hold him back. I wouldn’t expect it any other way. I hope I speak for everyone who loves him for the warmth and generosity of that energy he gave to his music: Levon, you will always be cherished for being a Rock of Ages to us." by Mitch Lopate

Hi Chris & Heather. Your music is so soothing and calm and beautiful! I wish you guys a tremendous amount of success! Wow! Have you guys got a profile on MusicXray. If not I suggest you get it up there and start submitting your work to record labels and publishers.
Would like to post a link to your songs on RedRoom's FB page. Do you have a profile on Reverb maybe?
All the best! From South Africa (not to sunny any more - winter's early this year!)

Thanks for the song submission. Great, creative writing. Alicia Keys' team is seeking an urban rock single, though... with more urban edge (think her past hits like "No One" with rock edge). Your song would need to be reproduced to fit what they're looking for :)
Your writing is very good. You just need to tweak it to fit the Billboard Hot 100!

Just listened to Even My Pain, this is really good Chris, nice song and well produced, it is about time you and Heather did something in the village again. I still think about the great night you both did at the Red Lion all those years ago, I was hoping that it might become a regular event but it turned out to be a one off, Perhaps 2012? Keep up the good work, Alan

Chris, great songwriting and a great production with Heather of "I am yours". Who needs metal??? I love the new formula! The harmoniser is working a treat. Keep up the energy and hopefully you will have an album together one of these days!

"I've just successfully shared a picture with my facebook profile. Maybe you could put in a share feature for the music (although I could just post a link to the music page for that). (via contact@theufr.com)"
I plan to create a song page that you will be able to listen to the songs versions so that you can see how a song grows over time, I would plan to put a ShareThis link on that page. I agree the music needs to be shared!!

Good looking site - well done. I've just put 'You promised to be' in my top 10 songs for this year. The damn song won't get out of my mind! The only thing missing from it is a good bass line. Oops better not go that way! Keep on rocking in the free world!!

I'm very impressed with the artwork on the page. I also like the way that you can download a tune (very quickly) and have that playing whilst you look at other pages of the site. A flaw in the myspace.com website is that navigating away from a player's profile page (to look at pictures or put in a friend request) stops the music playing. The only glitch I've discovered so far is that sometimes I have to click on headings (Home, About, Blog and so on) more than once for the browser to take me where I want to go. (via contact@theufr.com)
(Chris's comment - click directly on the word in the headings)
